The Best in Stand Up: Tom Wrigglesworth, at Comedy Store in London on Friday 24 August 2018 at 19:30 hours. Standup shows-london. Nuitlife.com

Charismatic wordsmith Tom Wrigglesworth began his ascent up the comedy ladder in 2002 and has steadily earned a reputation as a promising and dynamic newcomer on the British comedy circuit.

In 2003, he scooped first prize in Channel 4’s prestigious 'So You Think You’re Funny?’ competition; an award previously won by stand up luminaries including Dylan Moran, Peter Kay, Rhona Cameron and Tommy Tiernan. A year later, industry attention turned to Tom once again when he was nominated for Chortle 'Best Newcomer’ - earning him recognition from the most comprehensive, critical and up-to-date guide to comedy in Britain. He threatened to go professional if things continued to go well and in 2005 he took the plunge and left the day job. Since then, the lanky Yorkshireman has continued to take the UK circuit by storm, wooing audiences far and wide with his inspired, distinctive style and assured delivery. An articulate and natural raconteur, he possesses an innate ability to riff with an audience like they are old friends. With a winning combination of an impossibly likeable persona and a catalogue of first class material, his set is littered with stylish one-liners and twisted tales which reveal an inherently dark humour.

Tom made his debut at the Edinburgh festival in 2006, performing at the Gilded Balloon in a double headline show with Tom Allen, entitled 'Allen and Wrigglesworth’. He also compered the prestigious 'Big Value show’ at the Café Royal the same year - truly cementing his status as a formidable and accomplished MC. In 2007 he returned to the Edinburgh festival and performed to sell-out audiences in 'AAA Stand Up’ at the Pleasance Courtyard. He is now busy developing his eagerly awaited full length solo show 'I’m struggling to see how that’s helping’ which he will perform at 6pm in the Pleasance Courtyard during this year’s festival. Recent ventures for Tom in television, music and radio include his TV debut on Paramount Comedy’s The World Stand’s Up and recording sets for Paramount Comedy’s The Comedy Store & Edinburgh and Beyond. On the airwaves, he’s been a panellist on BBC Radio Wales comedy show Jest a Minute, and has performed on BBC Radio 2’s Out To Lunch and Channel 4 Radio’s The Tube. He has also been a regular sidekick on BBC Radio Wales weekend flagship show The Rhod Gilbert Show and during the last football season, he was a regular contributer to Fanbanta.com; travelling the length and breadth of the country reporting on all things football related for their website and podcasts.

Tom is now in great demand as a live act, working for The Comedy Store and all the major comedy clubs around the UK. A master of spontaneity, he is ideally suited as a compere and equally comfortable performing full sets. He has recently been invited to join both Rhod Gilbert and Justin Moorhouse as a special guest on their national tours.

As one of the brightest and most promising newcomers on the scene, Tom Wrigglesworth is widely regarded as a name to watch out for.

Paul Tonkinson is one of the funniest and busiest comedians on the comedy circuit. When he’s not appearing on TV, he regularly performs to huge crowds not just in the UK but also Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. Tonkinson’s irresistible banter has made him a forces favourite. He regularly entertains the troops in Afghanistan, Falklands, Barcelona, Kosovo, Malta, Egypt, Kuwait and most recently Iraq. Paul was the first comic to perform in Iraq after the war officially ended. There were 2,500 troops in the middle of the desert, 45 degrees heat, a sandstorm, tanks on either side of the stage, Tonks, four dances and a Bee Gees tribute band! This experience spurred him to write a brand new hilarious one man show, 'War Stories’ which he performed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival where The Daily Mail raved "Just see this show. It’s hilarious - if you don’t die laughing". Exclusive representation by Comedy Store Management www.comedystoremanagement.co.uk

A first class, guitar-wielding comedian with a captivating voice and wickedly dry sense of humour. Andy Askins has an expertly crafted routine littered with an eclectic mix of offbeat comic songs and parodies. Popular songs have been rewritten and given a perverse twist to tremendous comic effect. With impeccable timing, his inventive and quirky songs are peppered with inspired patter and the darker material is sweetened by his impish demeanour which never fails to leave audiences in the palm of his hand. Andy Askins headlines at The Comedy Store and comedy venues nationwide. On our TV screens, he has performed on two series of The World Stands-Up for Comedy Central. He is also a firm favourite of the Armed Forces, recently travelling to Iraq and Afghanistan to entertain the British troops. His unique style of observational storytelling has been honed for over 20 years. In 2000, Sean was nominated for two prestigious Canadian Comedy Awards - 'Best Male Stand Up' & 'Comic´s Comedy Special'.

In 2002, Sean had his first hour-long TV special as part of CTV´s 'Comedy Now' series, and building on this momentum, he performed a gala set at the 2003 'Just For Laughs Festival’ in Montreal.

Since leaving Canada for the UK and calling Gosport home, Sean Collins is now a headline favourite firmly established on the UK comedy club and corporate circuit.

He has written and performed 3 highly successful Edinburgh Festival shows, receiving rare five-star reviews and a 'Best of Fest’ accolade. In 2010 and 2011, Sean won the Portsmouth Guide Award for Best Comedy Act.

His numerous television appearances include: The World Stands Up Special on Comedy Central, The Comedy Store Television Show and Michael McIntyre´s Comedy Roadshow on BBC1.

"A pleasure to indulge" - The Scotsman

Alex’s ability to interact with any audience, his free flowing style and natural charm, means he is currently one of the most sought after acts in the country.

A lifelong comedy fan, Alex stormed onto the scene in the late 90’s, and quickly became one of the most popular choices on the circuit.

A lightening quick ad libber, with a charming edge, Alex is an established MC. His unique brand of "flattery and abuse" proves ever-popular with audiences, and although often dancing deliciously close to the boundaries of what is considered PC, the lack of malice, and warmth to his approach, means everyone feels they’re in on the joke.

His skills as a writer have also been in constant demand for Britain’s prime time TV and Radio comedy shows, most recently writing the script for Paul Hollywood’s national theatre tour. He is also highly skilled at TV and tour warm ups, bringing his warmth and ease to a variety of audiences. Alex’s sharp writing skills mean if you’ve found yourself falling off your chair in a fit of giggles watching TV’s latest successful comedy offering, the chances are, Alex is responsible.
